Sand Dune Secrets - GCWFB5

First of the day with sarahjones65, CathyMay and RiggyRob on our first ever caching expedition with the whole family. We parked off road near the entrance to a golf course and then let RiggyRob guide us using the GPSr.

After following the path over a bridge and along the meandering river and we made our way up and over the sand dunes towards our destination. On the way we kept changing our mind about where exactly we we heading and eventually we ended up on a ridge overlooking the RAF Valley aerodrome.

The GPSr wanted us to go down again, almost up to the aerodrome's perimeter fence and CathyMay spotted some rocks that looked promising. I didn't think it was the right place so I went off exploring with RiggyRob. In a few minutes I'd spotted a likely hiding place and so I told RiggyRob to investigate - he soon came up with the goods.

We went back a different way along the aerodrome fence, which went past a seemingly burnt out trainer aircraft. This might have even been the way we were meant to go in the first place because there was a path more or less the whole way, instead of trampling across the dunes. As went left I took some pictures of the airstrip and Sarah couldn't help but remind me of the British aviation enthusiasts who were arrested in Greece for doing something similar!

All in all it was a very pleasant walk in an area of Rhosneigr which we hadn't visited before, so we enjoyed it. We took nothing but left a Symbology Geocoin. Shame no aircraft were taking off or landing - that would have been really great! Maybe we'll come back in the summer.
